Lanzarote was all about the pelagic. However there is always more to see. great thing about being abroad is the ‘garden birds’ are often interesting enough. The beach by our apartment complex held this family of Kentish Plovers. A delight!
adult male Kentish Plover. Plumage looking a bit worn in early July
4 legged male Kentish Plover. What’s going on? Something quite endearing. Read on
female Kentish Plover- the mother
male Kentish Plover and chick. Doting father. Sometimes the chick would run and hide under dad’s wing (see photo above).
Meanwhile Mum went sun-bathing. Sounds like our typical family holiday. Obviously don’t tell Mrs G I said that ; )
