Spot on Steve I guess 2nd cal year as – like Dunlin- don’t reach full breeding plumage , though I am guessing they are not that common this far north
You are right Jimmy – how many hours did you put in ; ). Curiously ‘winter plumaged’ (there is a moulting ad s.p. Curlew Sand at Spurn this am – obvious red feathering on breast – Pete Wragg’s photos) I guess the bird above was 2nd cal year – think we had 2 around last August
